• John Monroe – Sleeping on the Floor: I’m a sucker for this sound, which reminds me of 1970’s Gentle Giant. John Monroe is a member of the excellent Field Music.

• Max Cooper - Swapped / Stereoscopic Dive: Swapped is an intense noisy single. Stereoscopic Dive is more of his usual rhythmic ambient stuff. Vertebrea / Forgotten Places is almost drum n’ bass, with vocals by Kathryn deBoar. Her voice reminds me of Béatrice Bonifassi’s voice on DJ Champion’s No Heaven.
• Maribou State – Midas: A chill song fit for an afternoon in the park, if it wasn’t so damn hot. Perfect for a Copenhagen afternoon-in-the-park party.

• Snarky Puppy – Sleeper: I think it’s my first time listening to a full Snarky Puppy album despite a friend mentioning them nearly a decode ago. San Salvador is a voice and percussions ensemble who sings in Occitan, or “langue d’oc” in French. They’re my new favorite band. The rhythm and vocal harmonies are right up my alley. The energy they project in the video embedded above is stunning. I hope I get to see them live one day.

Their music reminded my of Barbatuques’ Baianá.
